- The United States has withdrawn 500 troops from Syria and abandoned three military bases.

The United States has withdrawn about 500 troops from Syria, as well as abandoned three military bases. This was reported on June 3 by Al Arabiya TV channel, citing a Pentagon official.
"The redeployment of American troops in Syria is taking place in a safe and measured manner, taking into account specific field conditions," the newspaper quoted a representative of the US Department of Defense as saying.
In addition, Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin, citing two American officials, reported that the number of American troops in Syria had decreased by a quarter.
"About 500 American soldiers have been withdrawn from Syria in recent weeks. <...> Three American bases have either been transferred to the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces. — Ed.), or closed. <... > The American troops also left the third, much smaller outpost," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On May 16, Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the American side intends to reduce the number of its military personnel in Syria from 2,000 to 900.
Prior to that, on May 3, the United States withdrew troops from the Al-Omar and Konoko oil fields in the province of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria. These two bases are among the largest U.S. bases in eastern Syria.
