Scientists have reported a prolonged magnetic storm on Earth

The duration of magnetic storms on Earth has reached 48 hours. This was announced on June 3 on the website of the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

It is specified that the field fluctuations have almost reached the G3 mark, which corresponds to a strong level. The RAS laboratory also noted that the intensity of the storm is decreasing.

According to the Laboratory's experts, the parameters of the solar wind have already returned to normal. Scientists emphasized that the indicators of solar activity indicate the imminent end of the magnetic storm.

On June 1, Sergey Bogachev, head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS, said that the plasma cloud ejected by the Sun during the flare reached the Earth. According to him, there was an increased speed of the solar wind and high values of density and temperature. At the same time, the plasma cloud reached Earth almost a day faster than expected.
