Employees of the Estonian border service seized St. George's ribbons from citizens of the United States and Germany during the inspection of their personal belongings upon entry into the country. This was reported on June 3 by the ERR portal with reference to the Police and Border Guard Department.

"The next violators were identified by the Estonian authorities on June 2 at the Narva-1 checkpoint and at the checkpoint in Southern Estonia," the agency quotes the portal.

It is specified that the incident occurred on June 2, when Estonian border guards in the city of Narva found the St. George ribbon on an American citizen. They informed the foreigner about the ban on such symbols in Estonia, after which the man was forced to abandon the object in order to cross the border.

A similar situation occurred with the participation of a German citizen already at the southern border.

In European countries, cases of banning Russian symbols, demolishing monuments, and rewriting historical events regularly arise. In March, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for a tough fight against the rewriting of history by the European Union (EU) countries.
