The XI Red Square Book Festival will be held in Moscow from 4 to 7 June

All literature lovers are invited from June 4-7 to the XI book festival "Red Square", which will be held in the heart of the capital. Admission is free.

More than 400 publishers from all over Russia will present their novelties on Red Square. The program includes more than 600 events: from performances by the country's leading theaters and literary and musical productions to discussions, book presentations and autograph sessions. Millions of viewers will be able to watch online broadcasts of the main events of the Festival on popular Internet platforms.

On June 6, we will traditionally celebrate Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's birthday, events will be held both on Red Square and at the monument to the poet. On the main stage of the festival on this day, according to tradition, the best young writers and poets of the country will be awarded the literary prize "Lyceum" named after A.S. Pushkin. Of the 2,028 works submitted to the competition, 10 prose and 10 poetry works made it to the finals. About the selection of the jury, which was headed by the writer, Professor of St. Petersburg‑Andrey Astvatsaturov, Director of the Nabokov Museum at St. Petersburg State University, will be the first to recognize the guests of Red Square.

The 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is one of the main themes of the festival. The festival will open with a concert dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the publication of "Words about Igor's Regiment", performed by the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Russia Yuri Bashmet. And on the evening of June 7, the Academy of Russian Music Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Nikiforchin, winner of the Presidential Prize for Young Cultural Figures, will perform in the concert program for the closing of the festival.

The highlights of the festival traditionally await the guests on the main stage. This year it is located again on the side of St. Basil's Cathedral. Whenever you find yourself on the square, you will always find theatrical performances or concerts here: 27 events are planned in the program of the main stage. The classic is always side by side with the modern.

The artists of the Sovremennik Theater, together with Stepan Azaryan's musical group, will present the play "Victory Navigator: Moscow Speaks", which will feature songs from the war years and lyrics by Konstantin Simonov, Eduard Asadov, Alexander Tvardovsky, Yuri Levitansky, Olga Bergholts and other contemporaries of the Great Patriotic War.

As part of the Poets of Russia project, Alexander Antipov, Dmitry Artis, Maxim Zamshev, Elena Zaslavskaya, Alisa Orlova, Natalia Tebeleva, musicians Sergey Letov and Andrey Pavlov and many other contemporary authors will perform on the main stage at the concert of patriotic poetry "In Those and These Years".

Alexandra Kulikova and Vladimir Shakhrin, accompanied by the chamber orchestra of the Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts named after Mikhail Matusovsky "Serenade" and musicians of the Lugansk Academic Philharmonic, will present the literary and musical play "Novorossiya" based on the poem by Elena Zaslavskaya "Novorossiya of Thunderstorms, Novorossiya of Dreams."

There will be many famous and beloved artists among the participants of the program of the main stage of the Red Square Festival: Sergey Garmash and Nadezhda Babkina, Dmitry Dyuzhev and Anton Shagin, Sati Spivakova and Vladimir Koshevoy, writers Zakhar Prilepin, Sergey Lukyanenko, Vadim Panov, poet and literary historian Igor Volgin, literary critics Dmitry Bak and Pavel Basinsky, poets Maria Vatutina and Alexander Pelevin. In addition to the already well-known guests, we are sure that you will meet future stars here!

Also, for the first time, a platform dedicated to poetry will be open on Red Square. Poetic lines from classics and contemporaries will be played non-stop over the square all the days of the literary marathon.

The events of the business program of the Red Square Festival will be held in the Literary Lounge, which is located in the GUM showroom (3rd floor, 1st line). The program includes nine professional events with the participation of leading experts of the Russian book market — publishers, editors, book artists, journalists, book distributors, librarians, representatives of government authorities and public organizations.
