In Russia, it was proposed to allow motorcyclists to ride along special roads

In Russia, it was proposed to allow motorcyclists and drivers of other A1 and A categories of vehicles to use lanes for fixed-route transport. With such a request, the National Automobile Union (NAS) appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, he published the text of the letter addressed to Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev on his Telegram channel on June 3.
NAS proposed to develop amendments to paragraph 18.2 of the traffic regulations. In his opinion, the lifting of the ban on motorcyclists riding along special roads helps to solve the problem of accidents with two-wheeled vehicles in large cities.
"They will not create significant difficulties for such transport due to the fact that these lanes are either completely empty or minimally loaded for a significant part of the time. At the same time, motorcycle drivers will be able to drive in such lanes safely," the union explained.
We indicated that in 2024 there was a significant increase in all major motorcycle accident rates. The most common type of motorcycle accident is a collision. Experts noted that the increase in accidents and deaths in Moscow may be related to the City hall's re-marking program, "which significantly reduces the width of lanes for traffic."
On May 19, it was reported that 8,457 new motorcycles were sold in Russia in April 2025, which is 13% more than in the middle of spring last year. Positive dynamics in this market segment has been observed for 26 consecutive months.
On April 17, the rules for calculating the cost of CTP for owners of motor vehicles changed. For owners of motorcycles, mopeds, and light ATVs, a new gradation of power coefficients and separate age and seniority coefficients are applied.
