At least 36 people have died due to floods in the northeastern states of India. This was reported on June 3 by The Hindu newspaper.

"The flood situation in the northeast remained critical: the number of victims of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains over the past few days has increased to 36 people," the article says.

The largest number of deaths due to incessant rains and river flooding since May 29 has been recorded in the state of Assam.

As a result of the disaster, more than 10,000 houses were damaged, schools were closed, rail and road connections were disrupted, and electricity supply was damaged.

The day before, the Associated Press reported that at least 200 people died in Nigeria due to the massive flooding that hit the city of Mokwa. It was noted that at least 500 households were damaged as a result of the natural disaster. More than 3,000 people were forced to leave their homes.
