Russia and Turkey are building relations based on the desire to understand each other and mutual consideration of interests. This was announced on Tuesday, June 3, by Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Yerkhov, commenting on the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.

"Over the past century, our bilateral relations have gone through different times, there have been different moments in them, but the accumulated experience of interaction shows that the desire to understand the position of a neighbor and take into account each other's interests, especially at turning points in history, is the key to the successful development of the peoples of Russia and Turkey," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Tuesday marks the 105th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkey. On this date, the two states, in the difficult conditions that arose due to the post-war devastation, and despite the danger of foreign intervention, "reached out to each other to build friendly relations from scratch."

Earlier, on March 3, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov spoke about the active dialogue between Russia and Turkey. According to him, relations between the two countries continue to develop.
