More than 100 prisoners escaped from Pakistan prison during earthquake


In Pakistan, more than 100 prisoners escaped from prison after being evacuated during a weak earthquake. This was reported on June 3 by Al Arabiya TV channel, citing officials.
"More than 100 prisoners escaped from prison, and at least one was killed in a shootout in the southern city of Karachi overnight, after they were temporarily taken out of their cells following a weak earthquake," the material says.
According to police, a total of 216 prisoners attempted to escape in Sindh province, but 78 were caught. In addition, one prisoner was killed and three security personnel were injured during the exchange of fire.
It is specified that at the moment law enforcement agencies are searching for the remaining fugitives.
Earlier, on May 17, 10 prisoners escaped from a prison in New Orleans, USA. On the same day, one of them, Kendall Miles, was caught hiding under a car in a hotel garage in the French Quarter, a popular tourist destination.
Later, on May 20, police caught a fourth prisoner, 21—year-old Gary Price, in New Orleans. More than 200 law enforcement officers were involved in the search for the remaining six fugitives.
