Rescuers prevented the spread of 13 forest fires on an area of more than 183 thousand hectares in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was reported on June 3 in the regional Ministry of Natural Resources.
"According to the operational data of the regional dispatch service on the morning of June 3, forest fire formations stopped the spread of 13 fires on an area of more than 183 thousand hectares in eight municipalities," follows from the publication in the Telegram channel.
It is specified that during these days, the Ministry of Emergency Situations eliminated eight fires in Alexandrovo-Zavodsky, Gazimuro-Zavodsky, Karymsky, Krasnochikoysky, Nerchinsk-Zavodsky, Tungiro-Olekminsky, Uletovsky and Chita districts on an area of more than 6 thousand hectares.
In addition, 34 fires in 12 districts and districts continue to be fought on the territory of the Trans-Baikal fire. 1.7 thousand forest rescuers are involved in extinguishing, of which more than 40 people are volunteers.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, said on May 22 during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the area of forest fires in the country had increased 2.5 times compared to last year. The head of the department noted that the most difficult situation is observed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, which is classified as an emergency in federal forests.
