Ukrainian citizens are seeking help from the consulates of the Russian Federation to reunite with their children. This was stated on June 2 by the head of the Russian delegation at the second direct talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky.

"You won't believe it, but they (Ukrainian foreign institutions. They turn to the Russian consulates and ask for help, because Ukrainians do not want to quarrel with their military allies and aggravate relations," he said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to Medinsky, there is a problem in European countries due to the fact that a large number of Ukrainians have left for Europe with their children. He recalled that 255 children were removed by the social services of Germany and other countries in the spring of 2024.

On the same day, Medinsky said that the list of 339 children provided by the Ukrainian side would be transferred to the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation. He stressed that Russia will conduct a check on each child.
