- Reuters has learned about the investigation by the US Department of Justice into Biden's pardon of family members.

The US Department of Justice will conduct an investigation into the decision of former American leader Joe Biden in the last days of his presidency to pardon members of his family and prisoners sentenced to death. This was reported on June 2 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
Ed Martin, the Justice Department's pardon lawyer, said that Biden's competence would be checked as part of the investigation. They also plan to establish whether other people had the opportunity to sign acts of pardon secretly from the former president.
The publication clarified that the investigation will affect 37 prisoners who were sentenced to death, but later their punishment was changed to life imprisonment. It is also unknown which member of the ex-president's family is planning to be pardoned.
On March 17, US President Donald Trump declared the signed pardons of the former president invalid. He noted that the acts have no legal force, since the signature was reproduced by an automatic device.
At the beginning of the year, Biden announced pardons for his brothers Francis and James, the latter's wife Sarah, sister Valerie and her husband John.
