Residents of Moscow will be able to determine the new future of the Moscow Monorail on the Active Citizen portal. This was announced on Monday, June 2, according to the website of the Moscow City Hall.

Citizens will be able to express their opinion on the idea of creating Russia's first airborne walking park on the site of the Moscow Monorail.

"At a height of 6 m above the ground, they propose to create an area with flower beds, alleys, cafes, a walking route and a running track (over 4 km). Several wagons and the historical structure of the monorail will be preserved, supporting structures will be strengthened and engineering communications will be updated," the Moscow City News Agency quotes the mayor's office.

The territories are planned to be well lit, and a video surveillance system and fencing will be installed for security. There will also be limited access on scooters, the website writes. kp.ru .

The Moscow Monorail was launched in November 2004, Moscow 24 reminds. Over time, the transport framework of the city has changed significantly, and the monorail has not been able to become a full-fledged part of the infrastructure. Currently, it is used by less than 2 thousand passengers per day, most of whom are tourists, IA Regnum clarifies.

During a comprehensive inspection of the technical condition of the monorail, experts revealed its unreliability. Therefore, the Mostransproekt Research Institute offers citizens to turn outdated infrastructure into a year-round green park, RT reports.
