Etna volcano particles may reach Moscow in the middle of the week

Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, admitted that ash particles ejected by Mount Etna could reach Moscow in the middle of the week.
In an interview with the Moscow city news agency on Monday, June 2, the specialist said that some particles could reach the capital, but this would not affect the transparency of the air, because the volcano is located at a distance of 1.5 thousand km.
"While the north-westerly wind prevails in our latitudes, if something reaches us, it will be when we have a southerly wind, it will be in the middle of the week. Perhaps, up to this point, the bulk of the dust will simply settle," said the meteorologist.
The eruption of Europe's tallest active volcano Mount Etna in Sicily began earlier on June 2. Before it began, residents felt volcanic tremors, notes 360.ru . The eruption could have been caused by the collapse of material from the northern flank of the southeastern crater. Tourists are leaving the region in a panic, the website reports kp.ru .
Mount Etna has already erupted in July 2024. Then it led to the release of a cloud of smoke and ash to a height of 4.5 km, according to "Moscow 24".
