London police have detained a fourth suspect in the case of the arson attack on the home of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as a car and another building associated with the politician. This was reported on June 2 on the website of the police service of the British capital .

"A 48-year-old man was arrested on Monday, June 2, at London Stansted Airport. <...> The man was taken to a London police station, where he is currently in custody," the statement said.

Initially, the officers stopped the man, whose name was not mentioned. He was then arrested on suspicion of "conspiracy to set fire with intent to endanger life."

Three more malefactors who are in custody in this case will appear before the Central Criminal Court of the Old Bailey on Friday, June 6.

On May 13, British police announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man on suspicion of setting fire to the Prime Minister's house. On the same day, an investigation was launched into the incident. On May 15, the BBC TV channel named the identity of the detainee, who turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine, Roman Lavrinovich. Later, on May 17, the second defendant in the case was arrested, and then, on May 19, information appeared about the detention of a third suspect.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on May 26 that the United Kingdom authorities were investigating whether Russian intelligence services could have recruited the trio involved in the arson attack on the British prime minister's property. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called such suspicions groundless, noting that London is inclined to suspect Moscow of all the bad things that are happening in the UK. He added that statements from there often turn out to be ridiculous.
