The SKA Hockey Club announced the resignation of Roman Rotenberg from the post of head coach of the team due to the lack of results. Information about this was published on the club's official website on June 2.
"It was decided to terminate the contract with HC SKA head coach Roman Borisovich Rotenberg ahead of schedule due to the team's failure to achieve sporting results," the statement said.
Rotenberg has served as SKA's head coach since 2022, and twice in the playoffs, the St. Petersburg team lost in the Western Conference finals under his leadership, Sport-Express adds.
It is reported that Igor Larionov, ex-coach of HC Torpedo from Nizhny Novgorod, has become the new mentor of the team.
Earlier, on May 30, SKA announced the resignation of the board of directors and the operational management due to the unsatisfactory results of the team over the past two seasons. It is reported that the new board of directors is headed by Vitaly Markelov, and Nikita Stenichkin has been appointed CEO of the club.
