Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel sentenced to life in absentia for mining in Kursk region

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced a colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in absentia Denis Diky was sentenced to life imprisonment for mining roads in the Kursk region. This was reported on June 2 in the press service of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office.

"The accused mined areas and roads near the settlements of Volfino, Plekhovo, Novy Put in the Kursk region, as well as Dvilichnoye and Nizhniye Mills in the Belgorod region with anti—tank and anti-personnel mines," the agency's website says.

The prosecutor's office stressed that as a result of the actions of the Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and his subordinates, several people were killed and several more were injured.

Dikiy has been put on the interstate wanted list, and a criminal case has been opened against him under clauses "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("A terrorist act committed as part of an organized group that caused significant damage"). The court sentenced him in absentia to life imprisonment with the first five years in prison, and the rest in a special—regime penal colony.

On May 23, Russia put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia the commander of the 92nd brigade of the Ukrainian army, Vladimir Box, who is accused of terrorism. In accordance with the court's decision, the investigation opened a criminal case against the brigade commander under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act").
