Russia has developed a digital platform for cars

Rostelecom has introduced a domestic vehicle digital environment management platform. It will become the basis for the Aurora Auto software product, which will support various services and an app store, the company's press service said on June 2. AvtoVAZ, Itelma and FSUE NAMI are mentioned as partners in the design and development of the system.
The platform has been named Aurora Automotive, and it is being developed to enhance the technological independence of the Russian automotive industry, the company said. The product will provide automakers with "deep integration with vehicle systems to realize the extensive functionality of multimedia and information products," the company said.
The demo version of Aurora Automotive has integration with geo-services based on 2GIS technologies, the Wink music service and online cinema, as well as with a prototype voice assistant from Enbisys, which can work without a network connection.
Rostelecom noted that representatives of the Russian automotive industry consider the new platform as an alternative to foreign solutions (Android Automotive). The full launch of the product to the market is planned within two years.
It was announced in June last year that AvtoVAZ, Itelma and Rostelecom would create a new digital ecosystem for cars based on the Russian Aurora operating system.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the Sollers Alabuga plant had begun production of the Sollers SF5 line of light commercial vehicles. This is the first Russian car in its class to be equipped with an automatic transmission as standard.
