A drunken resident of Snezhnogorsk (Murmansk region) attacked a store with a sledgehammer to steal food. This was announced on Monday, June 2, according to the press service of the Polar District Court.
It was established that a man intoxicated entered a retail outlet and threatened an employee with a sledgehammer, who perceived the threat as real. The attacker took one lemon and a package of herring, and then disappeared.
A criminal case was opened against the attacker under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Robbery committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, as well as using weapons or objects used as weapons."
According to the Bi-port news agency, the court took into account that the defendant had previously been convicted of a serious crime against property, for which he had not served his sentence. He also committed a serious intentional crime of a similar nature and was brought to administrative responsibility.
The Murmansk resident was sentenced to three years and four months in a general regime penal colony. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed.
