The media called Merz's ban on the operation of Nord Stream 2 disastrous for the EU

The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, insists on an eternal ban on cooperation with Russia in the form of supplies via the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which could ruin European industry. This was reported on June 2 by the British publication UnHerd.
"Merz's decision to push through the "eternal" prohibition of Nord Stream is not only economically meaningless — it also legitimizes the worst act of industrial sabotage in the history of Europe," the article says.
According to the author of the article, the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe makes economic and strategic sense because it is cheap, stable and less harmful to the environment compared to American liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The publication notes that only Washington benefits from Brussels' anti-Russian policy, as the European Union (EU) will be forced to purchase expensive LNG from the United States in even larger quantities.
Merz 28 may during a press conference with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin, said that the German government will do everything to prevent the resumption of operation of the pipeline "Nord stream – 2". Merz said that Germany will continue to increase pressure on Russia in the field of tightening sanctions.
