Sber uses generative AI to create a new type of IT landscape

Sberbank has completed the transition of processing to full Russian solutions. Kirill Menshov, Senior Vice President and Head of the Technology Unit at Sberbank, spoke about this during the CIPR-2025 conference at the session "Digital Transformation of Industry, an Inside Look."

"We are looking at what is happening with artificial intelligence now in terms of the next stage of transformation. Generative AI is no longer a model, but is moving into a state of active action on the IT landscape. After the vendors left, we rewrote monolithic systems to a set of business capabilities written on our own technology stack. This allows AI agents to manage these business capabilities and bring the IT landscape into a state of hyperpersonalization, when we do not serve each individual customer, but assemble a set of agents that will make all customers happy," the speaker explained.

The bank's current tasks include developing the IT landscape towards a GenAI—native organization based on a platform-based approach, Menshov noted.
