The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul has ended. This was announced on June 2 by a source of Izvestia.

They lasted more than an hour and were in Russian, he added.

According to the source, during the meeting the sides discussed in detail possible prisoner exchanges. The results of the negotiations on this issue will be officially announced, he added.

The Russian delegation includes Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin. The Kiev negotiating group is headed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, and its composition has been expanded to 14 people.

The first round of negotiations was held on May 16. According to their results, Russia and Ukraine agreed to present their options for a cease-fire, as well as to exchange prisoners of war in accordance with the "1000 for 1000" formula. As a result, the exchange was completed.
