Investigators have completed an investigation into the murder of an elderly couple in New Moscow, which occurred in August 2024. This was reported on June 2 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in Moscow.

"The investigators of the metropolitan Investigative Committee conducted a significant number of forensic examinations, including forensic, fingerprint, molecular genetic and others," the Telegram channel of the department clarifies.

According to the Investigative Committee, a foreign citizen, helping a married couple with household chores, found out that one of the spouses had an amount of over 1 million rubles on a bank card. After that, he attacked the man, forced him to give information to access the account and struck him at least four times with an axe and a tire iron on the head. The victim died on the spot.

To hide the crime, the attacker killed the victim's wife in the same way, and then set fire to the carpet in the house to get rid of the evidence.

The Investigative Committee stressed that the detainee gave false testimony and refused to cooperate with the investigation, but after collecting all the evidence, he admitted his guilt. Several criminal cases have been initiated against him, and the case will be brought to court.

The murder of an elderly couple took place on August 19 in the village of Yartsevo in New Moscow. The dead were a man born in 1940 and his wife born in 1942.
