- Internet and smart video surveillance will be introduced in rural schools in Dagestan.

The MTS digital ecosystem, together with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Dagestan, launched a project to create an IT infrastructure in rural schools in the republic. The parties announced this during the CIPR-2025 conference.
"We are going to create and modernize the IT infrastructure in absolutely all schools in Dagestan. This is an ambitious and complex project, as many schools are located very far from major cities, often high in the mountains. For us, this is the first project of this scale in the field of education — we will increase the level of student safety through video surveillance and create a digital educational environment for almost half a million students. In the future, we plan to continue implementing such projects throughout Russia," commented Oleg Aldoshin, MTS Vice President for Corporate Business.
"This project is a big step in the digitalization of the Republic of Dagestan. As early as next year, students and teachers will be able to connect to the wireless Internet for educational purposes. This will allow them to diversify lessons with the help of modern means — video tutorials, online quizzes, teachers to collect more information for lessons and follow the news in their scientific fields," said Yuri Gamzatov, Minister of Digital Development of the Republic of Dagestan.
The main goal of the project is to organize a digital educational environment in all schools of the republic, including remote mountainous areas. According to the organizers, Russian-made equipment will be used. The total cost of the work will be 1.4 billion rubles.
As part of the project, Wi-Fi zones with constant Internet access will be created in all 1,380 schools in the region by the end of the year. This will allow the use of modern digital technologies and create conditions for obtaining high-quality education. In addition, video surveillance will be installed at the entrances to the schools. Vandal-proof cameras will be able to take high-resolution pictures, including at night, and smart video analytics will improve school safety.
