A high-speed catamaran started sailing between Sochi and Gelendzhik


The new Komet 120M high-speed catamaran has started making regular flights between the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory since Sunday, June 1. It received its name in honor of Soviet cosmonaut Pavel Popovich.
The vessel was built by the Vimpel and Morye shipbuilding enterprises. It is capable of carrying up to 120 passengers, reaching speeds of more than 60 km/ h and covering the distance between Sochi and Gelendzhik in 3.5 hours, KrasnodarMedia news agency notes.
The operator of the route is Vodohod Express company. The vessel received an operating permit in 2024. The catamaran will make one flight per day in each direction. The ticket price starts from 6 thousand rubles.
The Komet 120M is a modern version of Soviet hydrofoil vessels. The catamaran is adapted for comfortable sea transportation. Inside there are comfortable armchairs, panoramic windows and a climate control system.
