Turkey remains one of the most popular summer vacation destinations among Russians, but the first trip to this country requires careful preparation. On June 3, Yandex Travel specialists shared with Izvestia recommendations that will help tourists avoid common mistakes.

According to the service, the average duration of a trip to Turkey is 8 days, with preparations starting 55 days before departure. The cost of a round-trip flight from major Russian cities is estimated at 40.1 thousand rubles, and a night at a hotel in June will cost about 12.9 thousand rubles.

When choosing a resort, experts advise you to focus on preferences: the Antalya coast is better suited for a beach holiday, and the Aegean coast for excursions. In Istanbul, where people go for cultural experiences more often, tourists usually stay for four to five nights, preferring medium-class urban hotels.

Special attention should be paid to documents: in addition to a passport and tickets, you need to get medical insurance, especially if you plan to have active entertainment. It is better to keep copies of all documents both electronically and in printed form.

Knowing the local traditions will help you avoid awkward situations.

"At resorts, especially in Antalya, Alanya and Marmaris, the dress code is quite loose. However, in mosques, markets, villages and non—tourist areas, it is worth choosing more closed clothes: covered shoulders and knees are a sign of respect. In religious places, entry is only possible without shoes, and women need to cover their heads and choose clothes that cover their shoulders and legs," the experts warned.

It is also important to remember that the "OK" gesture is considered offensive, as is pointing at people with your finger.

When traveling during the holy month of Ramadan, it is important to keep in mind that many Muslims in Turkey observe fasting. During daylight hours, it is not recommended to defiantly eat or drink in public places, especially in regions with a traditional lifestyle. By showing restraint and attentiveness to others, the tourist demonstrates respect for the local culture and traditions.

When leaving, it is important to remember that Turkey has a strict ban on the export of archaeological finds. Even if a stone found on the shore looks like a trinket, it can be recognized as an object of cultural significance. There may also be questions about antiques, tortoiseshell products, items with rare stones or furs at customs. If you plan to buy something unusual, check with the seller in advance for certificates and export permits.

In addition, there are restrictions on the import of alcohol, tobacco, food and some goods into Russia. It is better to familiarize yourself with the current regulations in advance so as not to get into an awkward situation when passing through the control.

Earlier, on April 18, the Association of Travel Aggregators (ATAG) and booking services reported on the growing demand for travel with children. According to Tutu, such bookings have more than doubled for the May holidays and 2.6 times for the summer. Ostrovok's family bookings for the May holidays accounted for 27% of all bookings, and for the summer — 37%.
