The Latvian government has restricted entry to Russian citizens who own various properties near strategic sites. This was announced on June 2 by the Delfi portal.

It is reported that the State Security Service of Latvia has conducted an inspection of a number of Russian passport holders who own commercial buildings or housing in the immediate vicinity of facilities important to the national security of the country.

"In a number of cases, risks from Russian citizens to Latvia's national security have been identified. These citizens of the Russian Federation are blacklisted," the portal quotes a statement from the security service.

In addition, it is noted that this year Russians will significantly restrict or cancel the opportunity to purchase real estate in Latvia.

In January, the Latvian Seimas (Parliament. — Ed.) considered a draft law prohibiting citizens and legal entities from Russia and Belarus from purchasing real estate in Latvia. At the same time, the law will not apply to citizens who have received the status of permanent resident of the European Union or a permanent residence permit in Latvia.
