The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has sentenced in absentia to 20 years in prison to serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony, US citizen Sarah Ashton-Cirillo (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation), who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as a mercenary and spread false information about the Armed Forces. It is specified that in 2023, Ashton-Cirillo voluntarily joined the 113th Brigade of the Territorial Defense of Ukraine of the International Legion. She took part in combat operations on the side of the Ukrainian security forces against the military of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The US citizen was put on the international wanted list.
