At Sirius, sports doctors discussed the latest methods of recovery from injuries
On the grounds of Sirius University, sports doctors discussed the latest methods of recovery from injuries among hockey players. This was reported on June 2 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
It is noted that within the framework of the international conference "SPORTMEDFORUM-2025", sports doctors exchanged advanced medical developments that are successfully used to treat various injuries in athletes and gymnasts.
At the same time, Sirius employs more than 500 specialists in person and online, including traumatologists, orthopedists, and massage therapists. Last season, 282 hockey players were injured in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Every club is interested in the player, especially the leading one, returning to the ice as soon as possible.
"In case of severe injuries, we can use the knowledge of our colleagues and form a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, share our competencies and take a competent, comprehensive approach to solving even the most difficult moments," said Gennady Zagorodny, Deputy Chief Physician for Sports Medicine at Sports Medical Clinic, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
Athletes have significantly more stress on joints and bones than other people, and therefore injuries of varying degrees often occur.
"Accordingly, the higher the physics, the higher the energy, the more difficult and severe the injury. The task assigned to the doctor is to solve this problem as quickly as possible, with minimal additional injury," explained Dmitry Savitsky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the MMC clinic on Malaya Konyushennaya.
Savitsky also helped many athletes recover, including Arina, a member of the Russian junior national gymnastics team, who twisted her leg and tore her meniscus in training. However, she later underwent surgery and, after recovering, took first place in the uneven bars final.
The final of the SPORTS Medical Forum was held at the Beloostrov High Technology Clinic. Parents, coaches, and doctors discussed together how to achieve high results, which leads to injuries, and how to keep athletes safe. First aid workshops were held for young athletes.
The conferences organized by the Scientific and Educational Institute "MMC" gathered more than a thousand participants in Sirius and St. Petersburg.
Earlier that day, two large-scale events in the field of sports medicine were held in Sochi and St. Petersburg under the auspices of the Scientific and educational Institute "MMC" - the XII International Scientific and practical conference named after A.V. Zimin and the "SPORTS Medical Forum-2025". More than a thousand doctors and experts from Russia and foreign countries took part in them, which made this event the largest in terms of geography in the Russian Federation.
