Often, early walking in children can be a sign of the development of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). On how to track this moment, June 1, "Gazeta.Konstantin Krutovsky, a geneticist and professor at the Siberian Federal University and the University of Göttingen, said, referring to a major genetic study published in the journal Nature Human Behavior.

"Scientists have found 11 genes whose genotypes determine the time of onset of walking. They determined that 75% of this origin is determined by the environment, and 25% is given by genes. <...> A baby who takes his first step at the end of a period defined as normal (between the ages of eight and 18 months) is not only more intelligent on average, but also less likely to develop ADHD," Krutovsky noted.

The expert explained that children who start walking a little later have better developed brain areas responsible for coordination and sensorimotor processing, unlike those who start earlier and move more actively. This leads to an acceleration in the development of motor skills, which makes toddlers less attentive.

Earlier, on March 16, psychiatrist Alexei Maroyan spoke about the symptoms of ADHD and treatment methods. He noted that children with ADHD are restless and impulsive.
