- The political scientist called fear the main reason for Poles voting in the elections.

People's preferences during the voting in the presidential elections in Poland are determined by fear. This was stated on June 1 by Polish political scientist and journalist Maciej Wisniewski in an interview with Izvestia.
According to him, the public in the country is currently concerned about two main fears — about refugees and about a possible military conflict.
"Therefore, I think that these two fears, that is, the fear of refugees and the fear of military conflict, are dominant, and they primarily determine the choice of people when they cast a ballot into the ballot box," the political scientist said.
He noted that both of these fears are related to the excessive interference of the European Union (EU) in the life of society.
"In this case, it doesn't matter when voting. People simply show that the policies that exist in the European Union, this kind of influence and formation of societies simply does not suit them," Wisniewski said.
In Poland, on May 18, voting took place in the first round of the country's presidential election. Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, a representative from the ruling Civic Coalition party, and Karol Nawrocki, a candidate from the opposition Law and Justice Party (PiS), reached the second round, which is scheduled for June 1. According to recent polls, Tsaskowski receives the most support. The second candidate is Navrotsky.
