Lavrov had a telephone conversation with the US Secretary of State

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They discussed the situation in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced this on its website on Sunday, June 1.

"The situation related to the crisis around Ukraine was discussed," the Foreign Ministry said.

As indicated, the diplomats shared their views on initiatives for a political settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

In addition, Rubio expressed his condolences for those injured and killed in the collapse of bridges in the Bryansk and Kursk regions.

According to Lavrov, the competent authorities are thoroughly investigating the explosions of the railway infrastructure. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that those responsible for the incident will certainly be punished.

There was no response from the Ukrainian side about the agreement to the meeting.

The Russian Foreign Minister said on May 28 that Russia was ready to present a memorandum to Ukraine during the second round of negotiations. He expressed hope that all parties interested in the success of the peace process would provide support for a new round of discussions.
