Zelensky expanded the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul to 14 people


The composition of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Istanbul on June 2 will be expanded from 12 to 14 people. This is stated on June 1 in a decree published on the website of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the decree, the updated list of the delegation from Kiev to participate in the negotiation process with representatives of Moscow for the first time includes the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Yevgeny Ostryansky, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrei Fomin and representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Yuri Kovbasa.
At the same time, Alexey Malovatsky, Head of the International and Operational Law Department of the Central Legal Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, disappeared from the Ukrainian representatives at the new negotiations.
Earlier in the day, Zelensky announced on his Telegram channel that the Ukrainian delegation to the talks in Istanbul would be led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 28 that Russia was ready to present a memorandum to Ukraine during the second round of negotiations. He expressed the hope that all parties interested in the success of the peace process would provide support for a new round of discussions.
