The Russian delegation flew to Istanbul for talks with Ukraine


The Russian delegation went to Istanbul for talks with the Ukrainian side. This was announced on Sunday, June 1, by a source of Izvestia.
On the same day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Ukrainian side would be represented at the talks by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Earlier, on May 30, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed Russia's readiness for talks with Ukraine on June 2 in Turkey.
On May 29, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the composition of the Russian delegation would not change. In addition, she noted Moscow's open position on the settlement of the Ukrainian issue.
Prior to that, on May 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to submit a memorandum to Ukraine during the second round of negotiations. The Minister also expressed the hope that the parties interested in the success of the peace process would provide support for the discussions.
