Fico opposed a complete ban on energy supplies from Russia to the EU

Slovakia will defend its own interests in the issue of banning energy supplies from Russia to the European Union (EU), Prime Minister Robert Fico said.
"We have again called this idea the European Commission (for a complete ban on energy imports from Russia. — Ed.) harmful, ideological and damaging to the competitiveness of the European Union. But we will not end with just these statements," Fico said, speaking at a press conference. His words are quoted by the Slovak News Agency (TASR).
Fico noted that Slovakia would not support stopping the supply of nuclear fuel from Russia to European countries.
"This would mean jeopardizing the operation of our nuclear power plants," the Slovak Prime Minister added.
On May 28, Fico announced that the EC might make concessions on the issue of banning Russian energy resources. According to him, the cessation of supplies of nuclear fuel, uranium, oil, and gas from Russia poses a threat to EU countries.
