A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that units of the North group of forces had decisively liberated the village of Alekseevka in the Sumy region. In this area, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 200 soldiers, an electronic warfare station, five field artillery guns, an armored personnel carrier and six vehicles.

In addition, the Center group of forces continued to advance deep into the enemy's positions, as a result of its actions, the losses of the Ukrainian army amounted to over 510 soldiers, an American HMMWV armored car, seven vehicles, five armored personnel carriers, including three Sisu Pasi HA-185 made in Finland and two M113 made in the USA, three field artillery guns. In addition, the 36D6 airspace surveillance radar and the American AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery warfare radar were hit.

Air defense systems destroyed 100 aircraft-type drones and seven US-made JDAM guided aerial bombs.

Since the beginning of the special military operation, 609 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,529 field artillery and mortar guns, 663 aircraft, 60,692 unmanned aerial vehicles, 23,685 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,565 multiple rocket launchers, 283 helicopters, 36,288 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
