In the Bryansk region, 39 people who were injured in a train accident are undergoing inpatient treatment. This was announced on June 1 by Alexey Kuznetsov, Assistant Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
"According to operational data, 39 victims, including four children, are in hospital treatment," he told reporters.
Kuznetsov added that three of the injured, including the baby, are in serious condition. Currently, three children and two adults are being evacuated to Moscow for further treatment. In addition, 27 people receive outpatient medical care.
The Assistant Minister of Health also said that a team of specialists from the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health had been sent to Bryansk to provide assistance.
Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko took personal control of providing assistance to the victims.
The collapse of a bridge in the Bryansk region with cars on it on the Klimov – Moscow passenger train happened on the evening of May 31. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation confirmed that the collapse occurred as a result of an explosion.
According to the latest information, the death toll is seven people. The train driver and his assistant were killed.
