In the Zheleznogorsk district of the Kursk region, a bridge collapsed during the movement of a freight locomotive. This was announced on Sunday, June 1, by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein.

"Tonight, on the 48th km of the Trosna -Kalinovka highway in the Zheleznogorsk district, a bridge collapsed during the movement of a freight locomotive," he wrote in his Telegram.

According to Khinstein, part of the train fell onto the highway located under the bridge. The fire of the locomotive was eliminated by the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations as soon as possible. At the same time, the remaining trains stopped on the railway platform.

It is specified that all members of the brigade have been taken to a medical facility and are under medical supervision. One of the locomotive drivers had previously injured his legs.

The highway under the bridge is currently blocked, and traffic has been diverted, Khinstein added.

As the official pointed out, emergency personnel are working at the site. The circumstances of the incident are being established.

The day before, on May 31, a bridge with cars on it collapsed onto the Klimov –Moscow passenger train. As a result of the train accident, seven people were killed and 69 others were injured. According to the press service of the Moscow Railway (MZhD), the collapse occurred due to "illegal interference in the activities of transport."
