The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office on Sunday, June 1, announced the start of an inspection due to the collapse of a bridge with cars on a passenger train in the Bryansk region.
"The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office has organized an inspection into damage to the railway infrastructure as a result of the collapse of an overpass in the Bryansk region," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.
They clarified that Bryansk transport prosecutor Konstantin Tolmachev is at the scene of the incident. He coordinates the work of investigative, operational agencies and emergency services.
The Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Transport reported that a joint operational headquarters was established on the basis of the Situation Center with Russian Railways and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The center is also in touch with the regional authorities, they added.
The collapse of the bridge with cars on it onto the Klimov–Moscow passenger train occurred on the evening of May 31. The causes of the incident are not yet known. The governor of the region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that there were casualties.
