- Germany called on Ukraine to accept Russia's conditions and sit down at the negotiating table

Ukraine should accept Russia's terms and start negotiations. This was announced on May 31 by Sarah Wagenknecht's Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) party leader Sarah Wagenknecht.
"German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the Europeans must influence Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the terms and resume negotiations in Turkey on Monday," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In addition, she stressed that for the period of the ceasefire, Europe should stop supplying weapons to Kiev.
Wagenknecht also said that Russia's truce proposal opens up unique opportunities for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
On May 30, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian delegation would be ready for direct talks with Ukraine on June 2 in Istanbul.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the same day that Russia has an open position on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. She stressed that before the second round of negotiations in Istanbul, the Kiev regime is "throwing a tantrum to get its own price."
Prior to that, on May 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to submit a memorandum to Ukraine during the second round of negotiations. He expressed the hope that all parties interested in the success of the peace process would provide support for a new round of discussions.
