The IDF confirmed the elimination of the head of the military wing of Hamas

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the killing of the head of the military wing of Hamas, Mohammed Sinwar, during an airstrike on the Khan Yunis area in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on Saturday, May 31, by the army's press service.
"It can now be confirmed that during a joint operation on May 13, 2025, fighter jets attacked the Khan Yunis area and killed Mohammed Sinwar, the head of the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization," the IDF said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
In addition, the press service announced the elimination of the commanders of the Rafah brigade of Hamas and the southern battalion of the organization. It is specified that the militants were killed when they were in the underground command and control complex under the hospital in Khan Yunis.
On May 18, the IDF announced the start of a large-scale ground operation in the north and south of the Gaza Strip. At that time, it was reported that the Israeli army had already eliminated dozens of fighters of the movement and planned to "act against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip" in order to protect local residents.
