- Rospotrebnadzor has not identified any cases of chikungunya fever being imported to Russia

No imported cases of chikungunya fever have been recorded in Russia. This was announced by Rospotrebnadzor on May 31.
According to the agency, the country has domestic test systems for the rapid diagnosis of this disease. The Perimeter system also operates at border checkpoints, which assesses epidemic risks and helps identify people with symptoms of infectious diseases returning from countries with an unfavorable epidemiological situation.
"At the moment, Russia is constantly monitoring the number of mosquitoes carrying infectious diseases. The number of Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti species, carriers of fever, currently does not pose an epidemiological danger," the Telegram channel of Rospotrebnadzor says.
On May 26, the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka reported that the country had recorded the largest outbreak of chikungunya fever in 20 years. The disease is transmitted through the bites of yellow-horned mosquitoes, which are most active during the daytime. The symptoms of infection appear within 2-12 days after infection and include severe joint pain, fever, and skin rash.
Later, on May 31, Dmitry Gorin, vice-president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), said that no virus-related tourist appeals were recorded in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Thus, in May, the number of insurance claims for all types of diseases decreased by 3-5%.
