In Turkey, 32 officials were detained on corruption charges.


Turkish authorities have issued arrest warrants as part of a criminal investigation into corruption in Istanbul's city hall for 47 officials on charges of "taking bribes" and "extortion," 32 of them have been detained. This was reported by Habertürk on May 31.
Among the detainees are Mayor of Byukcekmej Hassan Akgün, head of Gaziosmanpasha Hakan Bakhchetepe, head of Avcilar Utku Janer Chaikara, Mayor of Ceyhan Kadir Aidar and head of Seyhan Oya Tekin.
It was established that three suspects on whom arrest warrants had been issued were already in prison, and the other three were abroad. Police are continuing to work on nine suspects who are currently on the run.
On May 20, 22 suspects were detained in Turkey as part of a corruption case at Istanbul City Hall. Among them was Turkish Consul General in Tabriz, Iran, Taner Cetin, who organized tenders for companies close to him and received financial benefits through bribes from firms.
