WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) will stop supporting outdated versions on smartphones from June 1. This was reported on May 30 by the 9to5Mac portal with reference to the company's data.

It is specified that the application will cease to function on devices with iOS 15.1 and earlier versions, as well as on Android below version 5.1.

"WhatsApp will no longer work on the following iPhone models: iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus," the publication says.

However, owners of the 6s, 6s Plus and the first iPhone SE models will be able to continue using the messenger with iOS 15.8.4 installed.

On April 12, it was reported that WhatsApp had malfunctioned. There were problems with sending messages to group chats and downloading media files. Most of the complaints were received from residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
