Alexander Grushko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, discussed the functioning of diplomatic and consular missions of the Russian Federation at a meeting of Russian ambassadors to the countries of South-Eastern Europe. This was reported on May 31 in the press service of the department.
"On May 29-31, in Istanbul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko held a regional meeting of Russian ambassadors to the states of Southeastern Europe (SEE) with the participation of our country's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)," the publication on the website says.
It is specified that the meetings discussed relations with the countries of SEE against the background of the anti-Russian position. According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, some states continue to pursue a balanced policy for the development of cooperation with Russia.
In addition, during the meeting, representatives of the consulates noted the need to support their compatriots against the background of Western attempts to abolish Russian culture.
Earlier, on May 28, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the European Union authorities were preparing a new, 18th package of sanctions measures against Russia. He stressed that the Bundestag and he personally are actively involved in this process.
