Composer of "The Simpsons" and "Alpha" Clausen died at the age of 85.


Composer Alf Clausen, known for his work on the animated series The Simpsons, as well as the TV shows Alf and The Moonlight Detective Agency, has died at the age of 85. This was announced on May 30 by the Hollywood Reporter portal.
According to the composer's daughter, Clausen passed away at his home in Valley Village, Los Angeles.
"About eight years ago, he was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy," the publication says.
Alf Clausen has been working on The Simpsons since 1990 and has created almost 600 original musical compositions for the show.
He was nominated for an Emmy Award 23 times and won it twice — in 1997 and 1998 for the tracks We Put the Spring in Springfield and You're Checkin' In. In addition, Clausen has received five Annie Awards.
