In Sumy region, mandatory evacuation of residents from 11 more settlements was announced. This was announced on May 31 by Oleg Grigorov, head of the regional military administration, on his Facebook page (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

"The decision was made taking into account the continuing threat to civilian life," Grigorov said.

The head of the regional administration said that transport, humanitarian aid, temporary accommodation and social benefits will be provided to all those in need. He also clarified that "as of today, 213 settlements of the Sumy region are subject to mandatory evacuation."

Grigorov reported on May 19 that more than 65% of the population had been evacuated from 202 settlements in the Sumy region of Ukraine, located near the Russian border. He added that the total number of residents in the region is unknown.
