The Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Vodolagi in the Sumy region and Novopol in the DPR

The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the settlements of Vodolagi in the Sumy region and Novopol in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on May 31 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"As a result of decisive actions, units of the North group of forces liberated the Vodolagi settlement of the Sumy region <...> As a result of active actions, units of the Vostok group of forces liberated the Novopol settlement of the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

Units of the Sever group defeated the manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the areas of the settlements of Malaya Korchakovka, Varachino, Novaya Sich, Yunakovka in the Sumy region and Bely Kolodez in the Kharkiv region.

"The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to over 225 military personnel, two tanks, four armored combat vehicles, six vehicles and four field artillery guns. Three ammunition depots were destroyed," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Zapad group has advanced deep into the enemy's defenses, striking AFU positions in the areas of Kupyansk, Nechvolodovka, Hrushevka and Blagodatovka in the Kharkiv region. In addition, in the DPR, the units of the "Southern" grouping have improved their position along the front line. Battles were fought in the areas of Seversk, Pazeno, Druzhkovka, Ivanopolya, Serebryanka and Konstantinovka. The forces of the Center group have taken more advantageous positions in the areas of Petrovsky, Alekseevka, Vladimirovka, Novoekonomichesky and Novonikolayevka in the DPR.

In addition, in the Zaporizhia region, the Vostok group attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Varvarovka, Malinovka, Zaliznichny and Lull. The Dnepr group attacked the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Pavlovka (Zaporizhia region), as well as Nikolsky and Antonovka (Kherson region).

Also, according to the Ministry of Defense, missile forces, aircraft and UAVs attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities in 147 areas, including warehouses with weapons, fuel and workshops for the production of attack drones.

"The strike of the Iskander tactical missile system in the Sumy region destroyed two US—made HIMARS launchers and ammunition for them," the ministry said.

It is noted that 169 aircraft-type drones were shot down by Russian air defense systems.
