250 million bees flew out of an overturned truck in the USA

In the US state of Washington, as a result of an accident on Friday, May 30, at least 250 million insects flew out of a truck carrying beehives.

"250 million bees are at large. <...> Avoid the scene [of an accident], as the bees may fly away," the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

Beekeepers are working at the accident site. The section of road where the truck with beehives overturned was closed until the morning of May 31.

Experts are investigating the causes of the accident.

Earlier in May 2023, a police officer was attacked by a swarm of bees in Los Angeles. The policeman was walking towards the car, trying to shake the bees off his head and face, eventually he tripped and fell to the asphalt, hitting his head. Another victim received "dozens of bee stings." The beekeeping expert said that the workers repairing the property could have come too close to the hive, which infuriated hundreds, and possibly thousands of bees.
