American actress Loretta Sweet has passed away at the age of 87. This was reported on May 30 by The Hollywood Reporter.

"According to the police report, Sweet died shortly after midnight on Friday, presumably of natural causes at her home in New York," the publication says.

Throughout her life, Sweet proved herself to be an activist in the fight for animal rights. In 2016, she founded the SwitHeart Animal Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending animal cruelty. She used part of the income from her art activities for these needs.

Sweet has been active in both theater and film roles. She may be known to the audience for her role as Alice in the film "Racing with the Devil" and reporter Polly Reed in "S.O.B."
