The media reported on the possible shutdown of US automobile production

The US automotive industry may reduce its production due to the impending shortage of rare earth magnets from China. This was reported on May 30 by the Reuters news agency with reference to a letter from the lobbying Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AAI) and the Association of Engine and Equipment Manufacturers (MEMA) to US President Donald Trump.
"Without reliable access to these elements and magnets, car suppliers will not be able to produce mission—critical automotive components," the Trump administration's AAI wrote.
According to the agency, the letter added that the absence of major automotive components would lead to the disruption of U.S. car factories.
"In severe cases, this may include the need to reduce production or even shut down car assembly lines," the lobby groups said.
Earlier, on May 31, Bloomberg reported on US plans to expand trade sanctions towards China. The goal of Washington's new policy is to prevent workarounds of previously imposed restrictions by creating new subsidiaries.
